Recently, the zero discharge project of coking wastewater of Qingxu Hongbo, contracted by BGT, has entered a stable operation stage.


This project is located in Shanxi Qingxu Fine Chemical Recycling Industrial Park, which is dominated by Shanxi Meijin Huasheng Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd., Shanxi Yaxin New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Gengyang New Energy Co., Ltd. It is a benchmark project of zero discharge of coking wastewater contracted by BGT. From its inception, the project was designed with the mission of "taking coking wastewater treatment to the extreme and transforming environmental protection into productivity". It strictly adheres to the national strategic deployment for the development and layout of the environmental protection industry. The project is planned and constructed according to the positioning of "high-end, intelligent, green, and integrated" and operates under the standards of "first-class equipment, first-class environmental protection, and first-class energy efficiency". The total designed treatment capacity of the project is 30,000 m3/d, and the main treatment process is a combined process of "pretreatment + biochemical treatment + advanced treatment + reclaimed water treatment (membrane pretreatment + membrane treatment) + evaporation and salt extraction".


The concentrated brine from coking wastewater, after partial reuse through the reclaimed water system, is characterized by high salinity, complex composition, elevated organic content, high hardness, and significant silicon content. Discharging it would have a substantial environmental impact. Leveraging its industry-leading high-salinity wastewater salt separation technology and extensive operational expertise, BGT adopts an integrated process of "high-efficiency reuse of concentrated brine + advanced purification of high-concentration brine + evaporation crystallization and salt separation of high-salinity water", achieving true zero discharge of high-salinity wastewater. Currently, the project has been operating stably, with byproduct salt achieving a purity of 99%, meeting the industrial salt standard for resource utilization. All produced salt has been successfully sold.

This project is the first in the industry to achieve zero liquid discharge, making significant contributions to energy conservation and consumption reduction in the Qingxu Fine Chemical Recycling Industrial Park. It plays a vital role in transitioning from traditional coal coking to modern coal chemical production. Since its completion, the project has hosted numerous visits and received guidance from domestic coking industry experts and enterprises, earning widespread acclaim across the sector.


In October 2021, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the Guidelines on Fully, Accurately, and Comprehensively Implementing the New Development Philosophy to Achieve Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality. As a critical segment of the coal industry chain, the coking sector faces the challenge of enhancing resource utilization while minimizing environmental impact. Achieving carbon peak and neutrality is a key objective that all industry players must strive to accomplish. The successful implementation of this project signifies a true achievement of zero discharge of coking wastewater in the industry, realizing resource recycling and circular economic development. It pioneers an energy-saving, low-carbon, and green development path toward carbon peak and neutrality.
