It is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Xizang  Zabuye Salt Lake Green Comprehensive Development and Utilization Project, featuring a 10,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate facility. The project has now entered its comprehensive commissioning phase. A modern factory has risen on the snowy plateau!

This project is the first modern large-scale industrial project in Xizang and the first project to realize the comprehensive development and utilization of salt lake resources. It is also the first large-scale salt lake lithium extraction project (covering all membrane process sections) undertaken by BGT in Xizang. Adopting the "membrane separation + evaporation crystallization" process to efficiently recover lithium, potassium and other resources from Zabuye Salt Lake, it is designed to produce 9,600 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate, 2,400 tons of industrial-grade lithium carbonate, 156,000 tons of byproduct potassium chloride, and 200 tons of rubidium-cesium mixed salt annually. Officially starting construction in June 2022, all participating personnel have worked hard to overcome numerous difficulties such as altitude sickness, material transportation challenges, reduced construction efficiency, and procurement of daily necessities through advance planning and overall coordination. At present, the 5 core process sections including the nanofiltration device undertaken by BGT have entered the single-machine test run phase. The whole project has achieved mechanical completion and fully entered the commissioning phase.

Public data shows that after the project is put into operation, the annual output of battery-grade lithium carbonate can supply about 200,000 to 300,000 electric vehicles. Calculated based on each vehicle traveling 20,000 kilometers per year, it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 2 million tons annually compared with fuel vehicles. It will become a model project for the development of salt lake resources in Xizang, which carries high strategic significance for ensuring the supply security of domestic lithium resources.

Xizang Shigatse Zabuye Lithium Industry High-Tech Co., Ltd. held the mechanical completion ceremony of the Xizang Zabuye 10,000-ton Battery-grade Lithium Carbonate Project on November 20, 2023. BGT's General Manager Zhang Jianfei and the construction team attended the event and extended congratulations on the completion of the project.
