Good news has come from the Xizang Salt Lake Comprehensive Utilization R&D Base Project: on December 17, 2023, the project completed the infrastructure construction of the lithium extraction route, equipment installation, and full-system process commissioning, and has stably produced lithium carbonate!

The project has effectively verified four technological routes, and finally innovatively adopted a coupled process of high-performance membrane + adsorption + electrochemistry + crystallization, forming an efficient, low-cost, continuous and stable comprehensive utilization process for carbonate-type salt lake brine. The implementation of the project aims to improve the comprehensive utilization efficiency of salt lake resources (including rare elements such as lithium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, etc.) while protecting the ecological environment, as well as advancing intelligent operation and maintenance application of salt lake lithium extraction. The completion of the project will inject new impetus into the economic development of Xizang, improve the comprehensive utilization level of salt lake resources, and promote the development of the new energy industry.
