On January 8, accompanied by the roar of machinery, the pre-concentration salt pan of the 10,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate project for the green comprehensive development and utilization of Xizang Zabuye Salt Lake, which is EPC-constructed by East China Engineering Science and Technology and for which BGT (stock code: 300774) provides all membrane process sections, successfully received water. This marks the official start of the trial production of the salt pan, laying the foundation for subsequent production.
This project is the first modern large-scale industrial project in Xizang and the first project to realize the comprehensive development and utilization of salt lake resources. It is also the first large-scale salt lake lithium extraction project (covering all membrane process sections) undertaken by BGT in Xizang. The project adopts the "membrane separation + evaporation crystallization" process to efficiently recover lithium, potassium and other resources from Zabuye Salt Lake. Commencing construction in June 2022, all participating personnel have worked hard to overcome numerous difficulties such as altitude sickness, material transportation challenges, reduced construction efficiency, and procurement of daily necessities through advance planning and overall arrangement. At present, the pre-concentration salt pan of the project has successfully received water and entered the trial production phase.
Since entering the salt lake lithium extraction field in 2021, BGT has proposed a model for the comprehensive development and utilization of salt lakes. Based on its technical accumulation and project experience in high-salinity water zero-discharge salt separation, through innovative exploration, it has not only effectively improved the lithium salt production rate but also carried out comprehensive development of other valuable resources contained in salt lakes, effectively reducing production costs. The smooth commissioning of the Xizang Zabuye Salt Lake Green Comprehensive Development and Utilization Project for 10,000-ton Battery-grade Lithium Carbonate is not only a verification of the Company's strength but also accumulates important experience for the Company's subsequent projects, providing important support and a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the Company in the new energy field.
According to data, the project is designed to produce 9,600 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate, 2,400 tons of industrial-grade lithium carbonate, 156,000 tons of byproduct potassium chloride, and 200 tons of rubidium-cesium mixed salt annually. After putting into production, the battery-grade lithium carbonate produced each year is expected to be sufficient for approximately 200,000 to 300,000 electric vehicles. Calculated based on each vehicle traveling 20,000 kilometers per year, compared with fuel vehicles, it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 2 million tons annually. It will become a model project for the development of salt lake resources in Xizang, which carries high strategic significance for ensuring the supply security of domestic lithium resources.
